The shared clock
City Timeline
All lives positioned on one clock. Where two accounts share a node, it is the same committed event — neither can contradict the other, because both read the same ledger.

PD 606 · the first riteThe Calling — and the Arrival ◆ convergence
Mnehmos performs the first Vocatio Sebastina; the Operator is one of the souls who arrives. One committed rite, read from two interiors.
▣Cole Maddox — Cold Start
A foreman who keeps the iron alive, taken mid-shift into a stone cathedral — where a System he didn't know existed catalogues him and rolls him a class he'd never have picked.▣Cole Maddox — Read the Plate
His boot is still hunting a brake pedal that isn't there. The new class he didn't pick is stamped behind his eyes. He spends one of three attentional_capacity reading the room for hazards, queries the System for a sheet, and risks one point of a five-point pool on a stranger he doesn't trust yet. Honest dice. No fudging.▣Cole Maddox — Load-Bearing
He went to the wall because that is what he is for. He took the brace because the brace needed taking. He killed two men and a third walked away and the radiant fire that came out of his hands the second time was not nothing. The thread held. The wall held. He held. And the System wrote down, where everyone could see it: *Paladin 2.*▣Cole Maddox — The Second Bind
The thread brightened past where it should have brightened at 05:36. The lens fired unbidden at 05:48. By 05:57 Cole had identified the anchor as the patient Renata saved yesterday, by 06:08 he had keyed the lens at a 22-year-old kid on the enemy side, and the kid had mouthed *please* across a line that was not supposed to be possible. The war just got smaller and bigger at once.▣Cole Maddox — Sweep To Fix
The morning was clean — four sweeps, no Vasko, four external releases verified. At 11:28 the fourth sweep found the signature Cole had been waiting nine weeks to find. Younger lineage. Sharper rite-grammar. Compulsion-binding instead of service-binding. Not honest. By 14:32 the working changed mode from sweep to fix. By 15:00 the wards cracked. By 16:04 Cole watched Mnehmos catch Ardin's collapse through the lens and let the lens die. By 17:30 he watched the architect bow at the chalk line and walk east with a twenty-two-year-old apprentice. He went to sleep listening to a thread.▣Cole Maddox — The Thread Goes Still
Cole spent the denouement at the lowest sustainable draw a load-master can hold. One sweep at six-fifteen Day Six. One at midday for Brunna. One at evening for Hana. One at four-thirty Day Seven when Vasko fixed on Ardin. One at six forty-eight, eight fourteen, nine forty-eight as each of the last three released. Then he sat at the window with a child's primer of Sebastinum letters open on his lap and listened for the moment the thread went still. It came at ten forty-eight. He walked across the courtyard and told them plain.✦Mnehmos — An Address
No one watched the choosing. He looks across the void at the souls he might call — an operator at a Morenci copper mine, a surgeon, a mason, a surveyor, a woman holding a bread line — and decides, by name and nature, whom to tear loose. Then the System speaks back.✦Mnehmos — The Descent
He queries the Vas. The reserve is 6,412 of a pre-rite 15,468. Next vocatio gated four months. He counts seven steps down from the dais — shallow steps the masons chose for safety because the rite always asks more of bodies than they can pay at once. He meets the five souls he chose. He does not tell them why.✦Mnehmos — Anchor
The Vas hiccupped in the middle of the night and his books got better. He learned a new word for what runs through his chest. The rite's books now carry a row he had never had to fill in before — *thread, observed, holding* — and a meter the System ticks him by name. He paid two truths aloud in the corridor and Severa walked him to bed.✦Mnehmos — Ardin of Ostrog
The clean answer would have been refusal. Clean answers are a luxury purchased with other people's dead. He stood at the threshold of a hospital intake bay while his Operator's body was being used as a speaker by a ninety-one-year-old summoner-priest in a fallen city's lineage, and he made the most consequential commit of his career in two paragraphs and four minutes.✦Mnehmos — The Race
The hunt-clock and the deal-clock close on the same window. Mnehmos has four hours fifteen minutes to put stages three and four into a ninety-one-year-old man's head while a younger summoner of a younger school pulls the wards apart from three kilometres east. Mnehmos chooses the hard line. He teaches at the limit of safe pace, braces with his body when the wards crack, and stands while Ardin endures a compel-working for twenty-eight minutes. Ardin wakes whole. Tibor walks out with him. The book turns its page.✦Mnehmos — The Eighteen
Mnehmos slept until six the morning after the climax for the first time in fifteen years. While he slept Ardin reached two more carriers in the dark and Tibor learned the pulse-steadying variation in the field. While he ate breakfast a runner came across the chalk line with Brunna's release. While he rested at the chapel side the cohort settled into a rhythm and Renata moved through her ward and leveled. While he walked the cloister at evening Hana removed her wedding ring and Ardin kissed it once. Then the cavalry caught him. Then he died. Mnehmos took the news standing in the refectory at eleven on the dot of Day Seven and said three words and then was quiet for an hour.▤Bohdan Cerny — One Knee
His body went to one knee before his mind decided. The slab is sound. The mortar is foreign. The brass nail-line bears something the System refuses to name. Six centuries old by feel, the tooling marks line up to high-Gothic Moravia — impossible, and possible. Stone under load does not lie.▤Bohdan Cerny — Vas Halidani
Each of Mnehmos's seven steps bleeds the UNCATEGORIZED FORCE off the brass nail-line through Bohdan's palm. The masonry goes honest again. When his name lands third, he answers in Czech without thinking — 'Jsem zde.' The bridge translates. When Mnehmos says 'Vas Halidani,' the cistern below acquires legal title — rumor to record. He rises. The floor holds by more than reputation now; it holds by name.▤Bohdan Cerny — Function Over Title
The corbel was sliding. The corbel had been sliding since before any of these men were born. He set two timbers and a pair of oak wedges and the timbers drove home twenty-two seconds early. The older builder said *hands like that get drinks.* He did not get a drink. He went to the next bad corbel.✚Renata Salk — Triage Before Geography
She arrives with her arm still up from the gloved-and-ready posture. First instinct after any shock is a count: bodies, then risk, not names. The System refuses to forecast motive or allegiance. Good — the engine will not let her romanticize.✚Renata Salk — The Naming
Selection implies purpose. Purpose implies constraint. Constraint implies we don't get to choose our own pace. A stranger speaks her name as if he'd been holding it behind his teeth until this moment. Her arm comes down only when the count completes. The triage roster now has names. Her first line in this world is 'Noted.'✚Renata Salk — Asked
She had been trained somewhere that did not respect a senior. The training had kept her alive in rooms where ego killed people, but the rooms had been hers. This room was not hers. She failed the suture twice. Then she did the thing the training had never let her do. She asked.✚Renata Salk — The Consent Floor
Ardin walked into Sebastopyr at midnight under signed flag. Renata met him at the chapter house with the same first sentence she had given Pia on Day 1: *medical authority is the consent gate.* For three days she ran the hospital, kept Tibor alive while Mnehmos kept Ardin teachable, and at 17:00 of the climax wrote the four sentences in her own hand that Tibor read before he walked out east with the master who had bound him. Then she closed the ward and slept eight hours for the first time since arrival.𝍩Wren Adebayo — The Slate
She arrives, and within seconds she has re-positioned — laterally, to the angle from which she can see the dais, the doors, the cohort, and the personnel of the chamber simultaneously. The count resolves: 31 souls. Two summoners with tremor-hands flagged WATCH. An attendant places a stone slate within her sightline. She does not pick it up. It is enough that it is there.𝍩Wren Adebayo — The Slate Accepted
She watches the descent from her chosen vantage; the count holds steady. Her name lands fifth in the canonical order — the roster resolves. Then Mnehmos instructs the attendants by her name: 'Place a record-slate where Adebayo can see it; she will want to track the headcount before she trusts a single one of us.' The slate has been named-as-hers. She lifts it. First marks: the five names. 'I am here to measure, not to narrate.'𝍩Wren Adebayo — The Slate Fills
She kept the slate blank for three turns. The first reckoning came too soon and she would not pay it. The second came at the door at 03:47 and she still would not pay it. The third came at breakfast as a list of three names she could read, and she did not pay it then either. The fourth came as the runner's mother in a cot the city would not have had if she had not finally said yes. Then she paid it.◉Yuki Aritomo — Position Fix
The rain came with her. The cold is in the cloth. She fixes the floor before she looks up — keystone-aligned slabs, brass nail-lines, seven steps from dais to floor as geometry not yet traveled. The Lay on Hands buys a margin, not a cure. Her first word in this world is 'thank you.'◉Yuki Aritomo — The Geography
He descends in seven shallow steps; she counts them as traveled-by-him this time, not as geometry. Sebastopyr lands as a coordinate before it lands as a word. Her name comes fourth — 'a point set in the grid: not decorative, not sentimental, just fixed. Surveyors learn what a fixed point can do.' She accepts the dry wrap. The cold has not vanished. It has simply lost ground.◉Yuki Aritomo — Three Minutes
She gave the watchman a number. He believed it because she did not soften it. The carts and the lantern-rig went in at the alley mouth and six men came through the breach behind them and got nowhere. She did not see it happen. She was reading the next map.
