Renata met him at the chapter house with the same first sentence she had given Pia on Day 1: *medical authority is the consent gate.* For three days she ran the hospital, kept Tibor alive while Mnehmos kept Ardin teachable, and at 17:00 of the climax wrote the four sentences in her own hand that Tibor read before he walked out east with the master who had bound him. Then she closed the ward and slept eight hours for the first time since arrival.
