Description
Douglas Perlitz founded a Haitian orphanage called Project Pierre Toussaint with support from the rightwing Order of Malta. He was arrested in 2009 and charged with sexually abusing boys at the orphanage he ran in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. Federal prosecutors alleged he molested as many as 170 boys over several years. Perlitz pleaded guilty in 2010 and was sentenced to nearly 20 years in federal prison.
