Overview

Former Fox News co-president Bill Shine, who served as Trump’s Deputy White House Chief of Staff for Communications (July 2018 – March 2019), was named in at least four lawsuits accusing him of enabling and covering up Roger Ailes’s sexual harassment of Fox female employees.

Description

Shine worked alongside Fox News chairman Roger Ailes for two decades and became senior executive vice president of programming in 2014. When Ailes was accused in 2016 of sexually harassing numerous female employees, Shine was repeatedly accused of enabling and concealing Ailes’s conduct. In one case, Shine acknowledged referring a longtime Fox employee to a psychiatrist after she said Ailes had extorted her for sex over several years. Shine departed Fox in May 2017 and joined the Trump White House in July 2018; he resigned in March 2019 to work on Trump’s 2020 campaign. Financial disclosures showed he received $15.4 million in severance and bonuses from Fox while in the White House. Conservative commentator Bill Kristol called the appointment ‘a disgrace.’
