James Everett Dutschke

Overview

James Everett Dutschke, a former Republican candidate for the Mississippi state legislature and martial-arts instructor from Tupelo, was convicted in federal court of mailing ricin-laced letters to President Obama, Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS), and a Mississippi judge in 2013. He was separately indicted on state child-molestation charges involving multiple minors.

Description

In April 2013, envelopes containing ricin were intercepted en route to President Obama, U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, and Lee County Justice Court Judge Sadie Holland. Dutschke pleaded guilty in federal court in January 2014 to developing, producing, stockpiling, possessing and using a biological agent as a weapon, and received a 25-year federal prison sentence. ” Separately, Dutschke was arraigned in Tupelo on Mississippi state charges of child molestation involving multiple minors. He had run unsuccessfully for the Mississippi House of Representatives as a Republican.
