Overview

Three Percenters member Guy Reffitt was the first January 6 defendant to stand trial. He was convicted on all charges including obstruction of an official proceeding and threatening his teenage children if they reported him to the FBI. Sentenced in August 2022 to 87 months in federal prison; pardoned by Trump in January 2025.

Description

Reffitt drove from Texas to Washington D.C. with a fellow Three Percenter, armed with a holstered handgun and an AR-15 rifle locked in his vehicle. He advanced on Capitol Police with his handgun visible during the January 6 attack. After the riot, Reffitt threatened his adult son Jackson and teenage daughter, telling them that if they reported him to authorities, they would be traitors, and warning ‘traitors get shot.’ Washington Post reporting also documented a separate incident where Reffitt fired a handgun at the ground next to his wife. Jackson Reffitt had already contacted the FBI about his father’s radicalization before the riot and later testified against him at trial. Guy Reffitt was convicted on all counts in March 2022 and sentenced to 87 months. He was released in January 2025 under Trump’s mass pardon of January 6 defendants.
