Steve Wilsey was a youth counselor and activist affiliated with Focus on the Family, an evangelical Christian organization, and was reportedly a protégé of James Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family. Wilsey was charged with and convicted of sexual assault after molesting an 8-year-old boy. His case represented a significant scandal for Focus on the Family and exposed the organization’s vulnerability regarding child safety within its youth counseling programs.
