Overview

Oklahoma Republican state Senator Bryce Marlatt resigned in September 2017 after being charged with felony sexual battery against an Uber driver. He pleaded guilty in a deal that reduced the felony to a misdemeanor assault-and-battery charge.

Description

On June 26, 2017, an Uber driver picking Marlatt up and transporting him to a hotel reported that he ‘forcefully grabbed’ her and kissed her on the neck while she was driving. She filed a report with police the following day. In September 2017, Marlatt was charged with felony sexual battery; he resigned from the Oklahoma Senate days later, ending an eight-year tenure. He subsequently pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge of assault and battery. In 2020, his parole was later revoked in connection with the case. Marlatt had served in the Oklahoma Senate since 2009.
