Republican campaign official and former Romney Iowa presidential campaign staffer Matthew Joseph Elliott was convicted in 2006 of sexual exploitation of a child. He was arrested in April 2006 and pleaded guilty three months later. He briefly worked for Governor Mitt Romney’s campaign before leaving to run for Iowa state legislature.
